Cat Flap - How to Stop Other Cats from Getting Into Your House
When you want your cat to be able to come home and leave as it pleases, you want a good cat flap installed in your home.
No more need to drop what you're in the middle of just to open the door for you cat.
The usual problem with having a cat flap at home? It's that other animals can squeeze through the same flap.
That means it would be prudent if you can find some extra security for your cat flap,
Security problems, stressed out cat, scratch items in your home
The standard cat flap, despite the convenience it brings, also comes with a pesky problem - other cats, small kids, small dogs, raccoons - can get through.
Your own cat may get stressed out if other animals routinely come and go as they please, bulling her, eating her food, peeing in her home.
Cat flap - your stressed out cat, your dirty home
Your cat is going to get stressed out when it gets bullied regularly.
It's not surprising to find cats hiding in some closet when you come home, proof they've been scared by something, or a couple of cats.
Or perched up on the highest point they can climb - bookshelves, on top of refrigerators, etc. These cat owners also notice a cat-pee scented kitchen and living room. Not many parents would want their children to play in that environment.
Cat flap problem - extra costs you incur and time wasted
By allowing this trend to continue, you essentially buy more cat food than you would compared to when only your cat eats them. Because of the pee or potty scents, you will get tired of always having to tidy up - and after some other people's pets at that.
The scent may take some time to wash off, so you might always come home to a house persistently smelling of pee, some other cat's pee at that.
This problem may persist and when no solutions are found, some cat owners seriously contemplate giving up their pets for adoption - if only to spare their home the constant smell and potential sanitary problems.
Cat flap - how added security to pet doors offer a relief to pet owners
Don't give up your pet, since there's a way to solve this - by getting an automatic pet door.
In theory, these automatic pet doors open up to your pet and your pet alone.
That way, no other stray animals or other people's pets, or little kids, should be able to squeeze into the pet door and into your home.
The cat flap is motor-powered and has a mechanism that senses a special collar your cat is to wear. That's how the door "knows" when to open or close. You can compare the features and prices of various offered automatic cat flaps online, so you can see what suits your pet and your home.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Are cat microchip id codes supposed to be private?
my cat is microchipped and is a house cat. However, I do know her microchip number but was it meant to be private? I might tell my friends it just in case. Was it supposed to be a private code or like it could be okay to tell people? I am registered with pet link and when u search the microchip ID it has a link 'report as found' so was it meant to be private like a SSN? I dont think so but I need confirmation
Answer:
Your friends' knowing the code doesn't matter.
It is only important if the cat is found by animal rescue. They will scan her and find the owners via the microchip.
