Dog Harness Versus Dog Collars
So, you are planning to train your dog. What are you planning to use: a dog harness or a dog collar? Either of the two may be used for training because they can both keep your pet safe and under your control. However, there are a few differences that may make you choose one over the other.
Differences in Design
Both dog harnesses and dog collars should not be mistaken for cat collar and other accessories. For example, a dog collar usually comes with design descriptions that are not used for collars made for cats. For example, studded and pronged should most likely describe a dog collar. Dog harnesses, on the other hand, are mostly much bigger than cat harnesses.
A dog harness is designed in such a way that it not only goes around the neck but also in front of the shoulders and behind the front legs. A dog collar, on the other hand, just goes around the neck.
Variety
Both collars and harnesses come in various sizes, patterns and materials. Both come mostly in nylon or leather. Whether you choose a collar or a harness, you can still find a style that will best fit your dog's personality. Reputable pet shops, such as Coastal Pet, offer many designs to choose from.
You’re Choice
Collars and harnesses present both pros and cons. You should choose based on your dog’s condition and behavior. If your dog is adventurous and likely to get into a lot of scrapes, it would be better off with a harness instead of a collar. A collar may end up choking an adventurous dog; a dog with a tracheal problem is also prone to choking. If your dog is healthy and mild-mannered enough, it should be ok with collars as long as they fit well. It is easier to put identification tags on collars.
