Frequently Asked Questions...
Chain your dog 24/7?
Hi, I am helping out a local shelter with a questionaire...plz answer honestly without prejudice....
Do you or have you chained your dog to a box, tree, pipe, etc. 24/7? IF you do why? or Why wouldnt you? State laws are beginning to go into effect which could charge families with animal cruelty and neglect/abuse for chaining dogs.(some states already do, but don't enforce) How do you feel about this topic. If you chain, will these laws stop the way you house your pet? Do you think SOME chained dogs benefit from being outside 24/7?
Thanks,
Just honest answers would help me out..either way..
Thanks for your time...

Answer:
Dogs are pack animals and are very family oreintated. I think that chaining a dog 24/7 is not a way to take care of any dog properly. Keeping a dog chained constantly can also lead to major problems with that dog. Problems with potty training to aggressive behavior. I don't see any benefits to keeping a dog chained outside 24/7. In my opinion, why have a dog if you are going to just chain it outside for it's entire life?!!
I do tie my dogs out on our porch on and off again through out the day, because I don't have a fenced in yard. They love lounging outside for about a 1/2 hour or so. But are mostly in the house with us all the time. Except for going potty and going for walks! My dogs are very much a part of my family and love being around us.
